Researchers at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute are developing rice varieties resistant to blast diseases.

Because there are no resistant rice varieties currently available in the country, blast diseases pose a significant challenge as the country’s rice production stability.

About 1% of the country’s total annual rice production is lost to blast diseases.
