Drought-tolerant paddy seeds distributed in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation Project (TNIAMP) distributed seeds of ADT-45, a drought-tolerant  rice variety, to farmers in Madurai East and Sivaganga Regions. ADT45 produces good yield even with 40% less (600-800 mm) water used compared to 1,250 mm for normal varieties.

The project also promoted alternate wetting and drying technology for irrigation management and seed treatment using a biological control agent.
