The project serves as a forum for Indonesia to share its success in becoming self-sufficient in rice.
Senegal’s economy is largely supported by the agricultural sector and the livelihood of more than 60% of its people is farming.

IRRI commends Indonesia for strong efforts to achieve rice self-sufficiency
To acknowledge the efforts that Indonesia put into achieving rice self-sufficiency, IRRI awarded President Joko Widodo with a commemorative plaque for “Achieving Agri-Food Systems Resiliency and Rice-sufficiency During 2019-2021 through the Application of Rice Technology” in a ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on 14 August 2022.
Nestlé Indonesia and IRRI team up to reduce the carbon footprint of Indonesian rice production
Nestlé Indonesia recently inked a partnership with IRRI which will provide technical expertise in the monitoring and reduction of rice production-related emissions. The signing was done by Ganesan Ampalavanar, Nestlé Indonesia President Director and Jean Balié, IRRI Director General.
IRRI and Indonesia pen 5-year partnership to uplift agricultural productivity and farmer livelihood
Dr. Ir. Fadjri Jufry, Director General of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, signed a five-year work plan with IRRI. The 2020-2024 work plan aims to increase the sustainability and productivity of rice-based agrifood systems across the country, especially in regions with high paddy production.
