COVID-19 pandemic drives Nepal’s paddy cultivation to record high

Paddy cultivation in Nepal reached an all-time high of 98% this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The crop has been cultivated on more than 1.3 million hectares

The boost in rice cultivation was due to people returning to their villages from urban areas because of the COVID-19 pandemic and cultivated paddy in fields that were otherwise uncultivated before.
