The Vietnamese province of Trà Vinh has developed 30 new rice varieties that are 10% more productive than old varieties and are resilient to climate change.
The province has also developed smart rice farming practices that significantly cut the costs of labor, seeds, fertilizers, irrigation water by 30% to 50% compared to traditional methods, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Farmers reported income from smart rice farming increased by 20% from traditional methods.
