Benin explores collaboration with Nigeria on rice production

A delegation from Benin met with top Nigerian government officials and the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria to seek assistance on growing rice in the country.

The party hopes to partner with Nigerian rice farmers and observe how they can replicate their production practices in Benin.

Nigeria now produces 3.7 million tons of rice annually and some farmers are able to produce 15 tons of rice from 200 hectares of land a year.
