Natural pest management gains popularity in Rangpur, Bangladesh

The perching and light trap method, which allows birds to perch and eat harmful pests of rice plants, is becoming more popular among farmers in Rangpur’s agriculture region.

The natural pest control method has been set up on 655 hectares of Aman rice fields, including permanent light traps on 605 hectares and temporary light traps on 50 hectares of croplands.

The live and dead perching and light trap methods were developed by agriculture researchers and scientists to help minimize the use of insecticide and improve the quality of Aman rice output.
