Rice planting festivals can be found all over Japan but the Otaue Rice Planting Festival in Osaka is one of the most famous. Held every 14 June at the famous Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. The festival faithfully recreates ancient Shinto rituals for planting rice seedlings for a bountiful harvest.
