Drought-resistant hybrid rice being developed in the Philippines

The Philippine Department of Agriculture and SeedWorks Philippines Inc. established a 60-hectare demonstration farm in Sultan Kudarat Province, Mindanao for the drought-tolerant Tatag Hybrid (TH). 82 rice.

The demo farm aims to determine the productivity of the variety, which uses Climate Smart Agriculture Technology through dry-seeding, particularly in upland and rain-fed environments.

TH 82 was developed by SeedWorks Philippines, a crop science company and member of the Hybrid Rice Development Consortium led by the International Rice Research Institute.
