Taiwan to protect local rice varieties

Beginning in 2021, Taiwan will ban rice imports containing Taiwanese rice varieties such as Tainan No. 11. Tainan No. 11 is local rice that has never been approved for export.

Under the new regulations, imported rice and rice-based products containing Taiwanese varieties that have not been approved for export will be rejected to protect Taiwanese rice and ensure fair competition.
