The buffalo race signifies the end of the wet season, in a tradition dating back to the 1800s. Thailand’s Wing Kwai Festival, held in Chonburi Province in Central Thailand, began 0ver 140 years ago and is now open to foreign visitors. The annual buffalo race marks the beginning of the rice growing season.
