The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture encourages farmers in Jagan Village, Central Java to shift to a rice-based farming system where the cultivation of rice is integrated with vegetables, other food crops, poultry, livestock, and fish.
The integrated farming system is seen as a way for farmers to maximize the profitability of their farmland and support the government’s efforts to achieve food security.
The method has become a role model in Central Kalimantan Province that the central government has identified for its food-estate program.
